We Grow Food, Edible Garden Project

We Grow Food has been invited to install Edible Gardens at all 139 schools throughout Durham Region. This program includes educational workshops, build raised beds, filling, and planting as well as creating colourful painted murals that are installed on the beds.
We are looking for volunteers that can help with the workshops and builds. We have upwards of 120 students per day, broken into 4 sessions.
The program begins in April (the educational workshops) and into May and June for builds and planting. And then again in the Fall (September and October)
During the summer we help support the garden club teams with visits to the gardens and assisting with any questions they may have.
We offer a mentor program teaching the different aspects of the program. The orientation will take place the end of March.
Volunteer shifts can be half or full days throughout the week. We are flexible and have a schedule done well in advance.
Your teaching expertise will definitely be an asset to us.
