Four ideas our new name must express

The process to find a new organizational name has involved extensive engagement with members. We have spent eight months from fall 2023 to spring 2024 seeking members’ ideas and points of view, then using those insights to inform name development.

Four main themes emerged in the comments, suggestions, feedback and ideas shared over almost a year from thousands of members.

• Community: making connections, acting as a bridge or social network
• Advocacy: providing a voice, acting on behalf of members/Canadians
• Insights: a source of wide-ranging information and valuable advice
• Collaboration: working together, helping each other; a circle of support

Our proposed new name – Entente – expresses these themes:

• Entente sums up the unique relationship between our organization, the services we provide and the people who benefit from them.
• It’s literally an agreement, an accord anchored by shared values, beliefs and commitment.
• And it’s the spirit behind that agreement – one of understanding, collaboration and support in a community of trust.
