Climate anxiety is growing among youth across Canada. (See Lakehead University or Simon Fraser U reports)
Our award winning project, ” Youth Imagine the Future”, needs retired educators who would enjoy presenting a slideshow of good news–ways that communities across Canada and the world are helping to lower global emissions and create a better future. The slides show unusual and delightful renewable energy projects, restoring wetlands and urban forests, and ways cities are redesigning themselves for a kinder future. We bring this one-hour slideshow to classrooms in grades 7/8 – 12 across the Limestone and Algonquin school boards but are happy to bring it to other areas. We offer these presentations mainly through September and the first week of October. Limestone & Algonquin students are then invited to create a short solarpunk story or a piece of inspiring eco-art for our festival. Those must be submitted by October 30th. We show them in a gallery in December, with awards -Jerri
