Becoming Entente Education Canada

A new name for a stronger future

We’re changing our name to Entente Education Canada—effective January 1, 2026. The new name reflects our evolution beyond Ontario and retirement, while staying true to our educational roots and commitment to healthy aging. During the transition, you’ll still see “formerly RTOERO” to help ease recognition.

Our new name, in brief

  • The Board of Directors approved the name change to Entente Education Canada on May 14, 2025. Corporate members confirmed the name in a formal vote, with more than 70% in favour.
  • The change takes effect January 1, 2026. During the transition, you’ll still see “formerly RTOERO” alongside our new name. Our group insurance program will be referred to as Entente Plus.
  • Members will continue to receive the same trusted services, supports and community. District names will evolve to reflect the new brand.
  • We’ll share updates about the name change rollout through our Chair’s Newsletter.

How we got here

  • This journey began in 2019 when we created a new brand to better reflect our purpose. Though we chose to keep RTOERO at the time, members continued to express concerns about the name’s fit.
  • We also had a hard time explaining our name to partners in education and beyond. After listening and reflecting, we launched a renaming process in 2024, involving members to find a name that aligns with our values and future.

Why Entente?

“Entente” is a bilingual word that means agreement and understanding. It reflects who we are, our collaborative spirit and our belief in moving forward—together. It was a name that we had already started using for our popular group insurance program, and so it was a natural fit.
