RTOERO is proud to be a bilingual national non-profit organization, serving more than 86,000 members in 51 districts across Canada.
Our vision – a healthy, active future for older adults in Canada – affirms the role we play in securing a better future for our members and all Canadians. The well-being of all those who live in Canada is essential to our organizational purpose.
Our organizational values – especially community service, giving back, making a difference, inclusion and environmental stewardship – are values we share with all those who call Canada home. As we bring these ideals to life in our programs and services, we are proud to demonstrate beliefs that are distinctively Canadian.
We demonstrate our organizational commitment to Canadian sovereignty in many ways, including the following:
- We serve our members and other stakeholders in both of Canada’s official languages – English and French.
- In our business practices, we prioritize Canadian vendors and suppliers.
- We have developed preferred sponsorships with trusted Canadian companies to provide discounted programs and services for our members.
- In our member communications, we promote and prioritize opportunities for Canadian travel and Canadian vendors.
- Our award-winning Renaissance magazine features Canadian writers, illustrators, photographers and distinctly Canadian editorial content.
- We communicate with all levels of government to advocate on issues important to older adults across Canada.
- We strive to strengthen our members’ national identity by incorporating national symbols and themes into our promotional materials and identifying Canadian-made items in our online store of branded products.
- We acknowledge that we are settlers on the lands of Indigenous peoples, and we are committed to our journey towards reconciliation.
We will continue to engage in dialogue with our members, stakeholders, governments and all Canadians on ways in which our organization can affirm, support and enhance Canadian sovereignty.
